The new issue of Mote is now available

Autumn/winter 2018’s mood is a tale of two halves.

On the one hand, we find ourselves hankering for bygone eras, a sense of nostalgia for the hedonistic glory days, while on the other, comes the rise of the rule-breakers and the societally savvy. Which is why issue 03 of Mote Paper is also a tale of two halves. Opening the issue we speak to the upcoming band, Junodream,
whose chilled out tunes are influenced by the sounds of 90s rock and trip-hop, while this issue’s fashion shoot throws it back to the 1980s with neon, glitz, and partywear galore. Bridging the gap between the 80s and contemporary culture are a pack of inimitable drag queens who first rose to prominence in the progressive 80s and are now a firm (and welcome) fixture in the clubbing scene and gracing our TV screens. Their nonconformist attitude is also echoed in our fashion interview with Uruguayan label Zarvich, who have disregarded fast fashion in favour of accessible demi-couture, harnessing a sustainable and ethically-driven brand. These values are also at the forefront of the beauty industry which is why we’ve dedicated a feature to ethically-sourced makeup to really get you thinking about what dirty little secrets are hiding in your makeup bag. The new season spirit takes all the best elements from the past and combines them with the forward-thinking future.

Enjoy the issue.
