Chanel launches its first makeup line for men

Luxury beauty brand Chanel has debuted its first makeup line for men entitled Boy De Chanel. Comprising of an eyebrow pencil, foundation and a matt lip balm, the minimalist collection will launch first in South Korea on September 1 before becoming available globally from November.

Korean actor Lee Dong-wook is fronting the collection’s campaign, which includes four shades of brow pencil as well as four foundation shades.

“By creating Boy de Chanel, its first makeup line for men, Chanel reaffirms the ever-changing codes of an unchanging vision: Beauty is not a matter of gender, it is a matter of style,” the brand said in a statement shared by WWD. “Just as Gabrielle Chanel borrowed elements from the men’s wardrobe to dress women, Chanel draws inspiration from the women’s world to write the vocabulary of a new personal aesthetic for men. Lines, colours, attitudes, gestures… There is no absolutely feminine or masculine prerequisite: Style alone defines the person we wish to be.”
